GFX Lights the way to a Greener Future

GFX International recently completed a major energy savings and pollution reduction project at their Grayslake headquarters. GFX replaced all the existing fluorescent lighting fixtures (lamps and ballasts) in their 80,000 ft2 manufacturing area with high efficiency lamps with electronic ballasts. The lighting conversion took place over a two-week period and was contracted through Blue Star Energy Services. It is estimated this project will reduce GFX’s energy consumption by 415,447kWh, reducing 289 tonnes CO2, 1,072 lbs. SO2, and 4063 lbs. NOx of greenhouse gases on an annually basis. These savings are equivalent to removing 52 cars from the road for one year or 7420 trees absorbing pollution for 10 years annually. All replaced lamps and ballasts were recycled through EverLights Recycling Services in Chicago.
