2009 recycling totals for GFX came in just under 226 tons or 452,000 lbs. This was a 45% increase in recycling over the previous year. GFX has put a major emphasis on recycling in both their industrial and office areas over the past 18 months. GFX has partnered with local recyclers for all of its manufacturing waste. All recyclable materials are sorted by type and labeled for pick up by the recyclers.

GFX International recently completed a major energy savings and pollution reduction project at their Grayslake headquarters. GFX replaced all the existing fluorescent lighting fixtures (lamps and ballasts) in their 80,000 ft2 manufacturing area with high efficiency lamps with electronic ballasts. The lighting conversion took place over a two-week period and was contracted through Blue Star Energy Services.
